DIN-EN 16983 (DIN2093) Disc Springs
This is a summary of the key technical data for the various sizes of disc spring we manufacture for both Metric and Imperial sizes, for additional information, please do not hesitate to ask.
In so far as base material is concerned, the data provided with the dimensions is only valid for SAE1075 and SAE6150 Sprng Steel.
We have provided data which is somewhat different to that which other disc spring manufacturers provide. We feel this data is important and can save you lots of time. The following abbreviations are used in the Product Tables Below:
- DIN-EN 16983 defines Group 3 disc spring, reduced thickness disc springs with contact flats
- Any reference with an apostrophe ´ refers to a reduced thickness dimension, thus
- t is material thickness, whilst t´ is the reduced material thickness for a Group 3 Disc Spring with contact flats, so
- we have l0, which refers to the overall height of the disc spring and never changes (there is no ´ version), however
- if a calculation uses t then if t' is relevant, then this must be used instead, thus implicitly true for h'0
- we will have two different cone heights h0 and h´0
- We provide the Group (1,2,or3)) as defined by the standard to help with tolerances
- and we provide the Dimensional Series as practically interpreted from the standard as well, also for tolerances
- Di : Inner Diameter, De: Outer Diameter
- The Force provided is that which corresponds to compressing the spring by 25% & 75% of its available travel or cone height
- We also provide the Operational Compression limit for Dynamic use as a % of s/h'0
We provide the following ratios:
- h0/t : Ratio of Cone Height to Material Thickness - determines shape of the load curve - linear to progressive
- De/t : Ratio of Outer Diameter to Material Thickness - Defines dimensional series class(A,B or C)) and various tolerances for DIN2094 /DIN EN 16983
- De/Di : Ratio of Outer to Inner Diameter - very important for static set stress threshold at σ1 max
